Jumper question neep help ASAP!

I have a jumper show tomorrow (saturday) and i do not know why i am asking this now. I will not get a chance to see my instructor to ask this. I appriate all your guys's help but please dont answer this unless your 100% sure, it could really screw me up! My lesson today my lesson teacher told me to ride the course we made up at a canter the whole time, so i used to sit the canter but she kept telling me to stay in my half seat (or 2 point, whatever you want to call it). So i guess my question is, when you ride Jumper...NOT HUNTER! are you supposed to stay in your half seat the WHOLE way around? or do you sit the canter then get in your half seat when you get to the jump. The reason she made me stay in my half seat the whole way around is cause we were working on our position so i dont know if that was just an excersise to keep me in my half seat or if thats they way its supposed to go.

In jumpers your goal is to clear the course in time and with no dropped poles. Typically the way this is accomplished is to ride forward (and in a half seat) between fences, and balance the horse a few strides out from the fence.

There's no time for you to get this now, but at some point you may wish to find and view some tapes of high level showjumping. It's very interesting to watch. There are a lot of different individual styles, but everyone accomplishes pretty much the same thing.

i think it actually depends on the horses. if i could i like to ride in a slight half seat but a couple of horses i have ridden actually settle easier if they can feel you closer and they actually go better if you sit more on them rather then get off them.

The first class she refused 6 jumps. One of them had scary horse eating flowers!! lol i was getting really mad, but my 2nd class we had a clean round. I lost my stirrups over the 2nd jump and had to jump the rest of the course with no stirrups(I could not get them back). Somehow i managed to get first place out of 13!
