Hee Hee, I read this a while ago and it still makes me laugh every time! He is a really funny writer! If HDT is like that then I want a go! Just a bit of the article....

Poised in a seat beside and above me, driving doyen Pippa Bassett was gathering what looked like a dozen reins into one gloved hand just a few inches from my right cheek. She looked both cool and revved-up and I had decided I trusted her completely. “Watch out in case I whack you in the eye with the whip,” she said.

The Lippazzaners pricked their long ears and flexed gently within their bodice of harness. Like spiders in a bath, my hands scuttled in vain around the carriage interior. I needed a safety belt or a handle, but would have settled for a crucifix, having discovered a sudden and powerful desire to hold something - anything - very tightly indeed.

It so rings true though. I have been known to catch my grooms a few times with the whip (Susan if your still lurking watch out tomorrow) and when being a groom I have search the cart for something to take hold of (this has only started since becoming the driver )

I am paranoid grooming for people now too Miriam  you are fine until you learn to drive and then you suddenly start twitching and feeling insecure when you don;t have the reins:rolleyes: I also have been known to attempt to decapitate my groom with the whip, even when they are on the backstep........:o

HDT are the best!!:D

Esther I just had to laugh. Sounds like once you learn to drive there is no going back to grooming :D

I've just got my Bellcrown brochure and have been looking at it all morning (sigh) They have starter kits starting from £990 but the one I want is around £1375 or £3000 and odd  The starter kits are two wheelers which you can dismantle which makes me swing towards them

Miriam - all of the two wheeler Bellcrown carriages dismantle to fit in a single horse side of a trailer, not just the starter one. :D Thats the whole reason I went for Bellcrown.

Bellcrown are really good....unfortunately like Miriam's my piggybank is a bit short at the moment (although she did at the last count have £34.50 more than my £2.50 in hers ;) :D

We've flexed too many at the moment  Although theya re out in OH's name I was seriously contemplating this one. I have however been suggested by a friend 'that we get our selves sorted and go to reading sales' :D
