Hello
My name is Julie and I live in Yorkshire, I am 35 year of age and have been riding on and off (literally) since the age of 8. I have owned a few horses in my time (mostly jointly) and now am the proud owner of my very own horse called Winston. I have had him about a year and purchased him as a recently broken rising 4 year old.
He had no manners, schooling was none existent and was quite a terror. After lots of tears, frustration, private lessons on school masters, schooling etc I am very slowing getting things together. I am a recent convert to Heather Moffett and am trying to interpret her teachings on Winston!
He is dapple grey, 14hh and a very lively chap. I am mainly interested in showing and ridden classes such as M&M although we have on all our occasions failed miserably!
I thought I should introduce myself as a new member of the forum and hope to be of some help and fire questions to you guys when I get stuck.
I do have a photo library of Winston and my pet family together with some of the other horses I work with. If you would like to have al look please let me know!
Thank you for your time
Julie

Welcome to the board! Your Winston is very similar in color to my Ash. Same mane and tail, same coloring except Ash is not yet dappled in the midsection. Their faces are even very similar in coloring. Ash's face is much more narrow though. I really need to get some pictures posted!
Anyway, I have a question for you, or anyone else for that manner. I'm thinking of competing in a show in May. Ash is coming along nicely. With 2 months, what do you do to really prepare? Anyone have a system? I think I might need to trailer her to some other locations to ride so she gets used to that sort of thing. I have never ridden her anywhere but in the indoor arena where I board and as of today I have ridden her one time outside the arena. Well I guess there was this nerve-racking trail ride but I don't think that counts. Ash is barely coming 5 years old and has maybe a total of 90 good days of training plus 30 bad days which I guess would equal 60 good days or something. Anyway, any ideas?
