Hey everyone, I'm a newbie!!!
can you tell me what you think of the horse i ride!!?? He is actually 3/4 quarter horse and 1/4 TB. I want to show him unaffiliated in hunter type and/or riding horse classes. will measure his bone and see but his conformation is quite good!
movement is straight and definitely gud enough for local shows... please say what ** first impressions are!!

he looks good. what height is he? if he has manners and is a good ride and well schooled then he should do well at local level. looks to be a middleweight / heavyweight hunter type. nice head and neck and a good bum.
whats his name?

he's about 16/16.1, show name Dusters Fire and Mr B or Bodkin at home.
he has a nice head too, not like all the well bred big hunters but v attractive with nice big dark eyes!!! ok im a bit biased :)
do u reckn he's nice enough for local riding horse? definately more hunter type i know but i want to make the most of him b4 i hav to go back to uni!!

you definately should have a go at showing him. the only thing is he might look a little small compared to the others. they're generally 16.2 +. he is lovely though. he definately has a hunters bum. solid and muscular.

im not to good with the large hunters (i thend to stick to the ponies) but from what i remember, 8.5 ins of none is light/medium weight hunters, he looks lovely get him together properly, with correct turnout and tack and try him at local level or agricultural level if he does well try him at county

First off, lovely horse!!!
I'd stay away from MW HW hunters. He is more of a lightweight or a riding horse. What I'd do is go into both classes and ask the judge what they think he will be best suited to. If only he were 15.2hh he'd be a gorgeous small hunter.
Personally I'd try both, but sway towards riding horse.

Just have a go! classes range from small hunter 14.2 not exceding 15.2 usually. Lightweight hunter to carry 12stone middle weight to carry 14stone and heavyweight. You never know looks a v-nice horse to me.

I definatly say have a go!!! You'll do well! He's definatly not too heavy to do riding horse, and although i think he looks light-middle weight he should do well at working hunter.
He definatly won't look small!!!!! In my area most working hunters are around 16hh-16.2hh and vary in weight! I have a cleveland bay x thoroughbred and she is usually one of the heavier horses in wh!!
At my last show i was beaten by a lightweight 15.1hh (it got 2nd) it jumped perfectly and did a nice show, it didnt matter that it was the smallst and lightest horse in the class, and that it had scars on its knees. I think the judge just wants a horse that is schooled on the flat, jumps nice and is well mannered.

he looks lovely! you just need to take an inch off the length of his tail and stick some makeup and baby oil on him!

yeah i know bout his tail but that was as short as his owner wanted it cut!!
I get scared with make up, never want to put too much on!! did hav lots of baby oil though, but was a dull day and not proffessional pictures (sorry dad!)
hows your season been?!?

mines been ok i cant do much of the winter season as im at uni, i find the easiest way to put makeup on is to stick it on a sponge, put baby oil on and put both on at the same time!
