Weeheee. Next lesson went much better :)
We did some work first to get the trot nice and balanced - or as balanced as I can get it at the moment!! I'm really learning about weight and balance and what my instructor calls putting on the body break... :)
Then we had another go with canter, this time off a corner (no lunge!!), down the long end of the school and back to trot for the next corner...
........ or at least it would have been if I hadn't shortened the inside rein too much and headed off across the centre of the school instead!!! If I had more wits about me, I could have come back to trot and changed the rein diagonally across the school - but I didn't' so we stopped in the middle instead, with the poor mare almost saying aloud "Wasn't that what you wanted?"
She's an ex-racehorse, and is a blessing for not needing to be pushed on the whole time, but I do struggle to get her weight into her quarters and off her forehand. I'd love to see my instructor on her and see how it is done!!!
