I wanted to ask this, but keep forgeting.. anyways I noticed a lot of horses at my current barn and my previous barn have small bumps on their skin, looks like fly bites?I'm really not sure, they usually appear around neck area .
Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

They could be fly bites or an allergic reaction to something. More likely fly bites though.

Dolly's completely covered in little lumps. My guess is that the vast majority of them are fly bites (crusty little things), and the others (harder but much smaller) are an allergy to nettles in her field.
Add to that her sarcoids and she's looking very bumpy at the moment! :)

Could be fly bites.
A few horses in our barn have been getting hives this summer with the damp weather. The ones I've seen have had it all over the body though, not just on the neck.

The horse Ive been looking after recently is covered in bumps and scabs on his neck which we think are either fly bites or an allergic reaction. We hot towel them to soothe them and put vaseline on to stop them getting too dry and scabby.
My mums horse gets allergies in the summer and gets scabs all over his face, so he subsequently rubs off large patches of hair. We just do the same as above, sometimes with an antibiotic to stop him getting swollen and infected if he breaks the skin.
I think a lot of horses get this, esp thin skinned, sensitive horses like the two TB types mentioned above!
