angel was wormed when i first got her. with equest (yard told me to use equest). now the 3 months are coming to an end, and i am a bit unsure what to worm her with now.
according to the equest-packet i should do another equest dose and 12 weeks after that move on to a different wormer for the winter season.
is that correct?
can she go straight back out in the field/be ridden after worming?

Yes you can use Equest now again, or something like EquiMax or Panacure.
Fern had the 5 day Panacure stuff in Febuary when we first got her, then Equest, and then we were adviced to give her equest again, and panacure in winter.

thanks for that :) ill doublecheck with people at the yard as well, as all the horses are supposed to follow the same course.

If you are using Equest there is no need to use Panacur 5day as they both treat encysted redworm.
There is no need to change wormers for the winter either.
Don't forget to add a tapeworm dose around October time, such as Equitape.
The other important dose for the year is your Nov/Dec Equest to treat encysted redworm and it will also cover for bots.
Why not do your worm counts and know if worming needs to be done and is working? We also try to help with all your worming problems, just ask.

Does your yard follow a programme? If you ask the YO they ought to be able to tell you which one they're doing next - a big sign goes up on our noticeboard every 2-3 months giving everyone a couple of week's notice that they must be wormed with product X by such and such a date - unless you sign off, your horse won't get turned out.
We're doing Equimax next week - at least it's flavoured....

Please please please! Choose a program and stick to it. The biggest reasons for worm-resistance to worming pastes is people forgetting what they used last & not using enough for their horse. This causes big problems because they have to keep making harsher & harsher chemicals to knock them off!
I was instructed that you only need to change the drug-class once a year, and then revert back to your original brand. The brochers (sp?) in your tack shop should be able to tell you what classes are available to use. If not, ask you vet. Explain that you are using "Fluffy Pony" Brand, and which one should I use in my rotation?
I use equimec, but havent decided my alternate brand yet. Will check it out at horseland next time. Thanks for the reminder!

oooo not seen that one in England! Type in horse wormers in google and you get some good sites with loads of info about wormers, worms and when to worm.
I recently devised a plan for our yard, if you look it up I posted it somewhere for perusal!
