My poor mare's neck has become swollen after recieving her flu/tet and herpes jabs 2 days ago.
I have never had a horse of mine experience this before. Anyone have any idea's how long this will last?:)

Some horse's do bruise up from jabs - the swelling can last several days. If you want to ease the swelling a little try a cold compress (be gentle) or some aloe vera to help.

I read the results of a sruvey/study recently where they were looking for common factors in a post-injection reaction.
All I can really remember is that they didn't find any major common factors, and that it didn't seem to make a significant difference when the injection site was disinfected first. (The disinfection results were the part that surprised me.)
My horses have on occasion had a reaction after an injection; it's always gone away. A bad reaction can get infected and turn into an abcess, but so far I haven't seen it happen (to my own horses or to any other horses around).

Galadriel, thanks for the info. I think she is going to be one of these sensitive red heads....Guess I'd better get used to it.

Ive got a sturdy little cob but every time he has a jab of any kind in his chest it swells up hugely, making him around a (at an estimate!) Double H cup on one side! So we just inject him in the neck or quarters and he doesnt swell at all.
