11 year old daughter, Daisy, has got a portable dvd player (rich godfather, lucky girl).
Daisy is really into horses and has her own, trains her own, etc. She wants horsey dvd's to watch.
Can anyone recommend any good horsey films (remember for 11 year old girl) like Seabiscuit, etc.
Much appreciated.
Frances

Has anyone seen International Velvet? It has Tatum O'Neil in it. I caught the end of it on TV a couple of weeks ago.

"Wild Hearts Can't be Broken" is a rather cheesey made for TV movie, but would probably be just right for a horse crazy 11-yr-old. I have no idea if it would be available on DVD though.

If it's anything like the book, I wouldn't recommend it to an 11 year old!!

I'ts not.:D I like the movie better.
As for Black Beauty, I'd say only if you want to traumatize her. I still can't watch it without blubbering throughout the whole thing.

She'd have to be a pretty mature 12 year old to watch the Horse Whisperer, my sister can't watch it without freaking at the blood and she is 12.
Black Beauty is a classic!

Ahhh, well what do I know. At age 9 my favorite movies where Jaws and Beetlejuice. I was introduced to blood at an early age.:D I'd probably seen about every Chuck Norris movie around by then too.

It is!! I rented it alot of times when I was younger...i didn't know it was "made for TV". Anyway, it's a really cute movie, especially for a youngster! :) I'm happy to see this list, too, cause I can never think of any good horsey movies to watch!

Seabiscuit is OK, but I would be careful because of some language and stuff. What about some of the saddle club movies or episodes, she might like them. Horse whisperer is good, but there it's a bit gory in the beginning. Black beauty is defintely a good option and what about Spirit?

Ok, help me out, I can think of 2 but haven,t got a clue what they are called. One is about a girl and her horse and she does mad stunt riding and jumps him off a high dive platform into a pool of water! and the other is about a young boy and his pony, its set on some moors somewhere and I,d say it was 60s I remember it as a real tear jerker but really good!
Im not much help am I :o
Edit: Love the Black Stallion btw and there is a sequal, the Black Stallion returns! I have all the books apart from number 9 :( :o :D

The diving girl/horse movie (unless there's another) is "Wild Hearts Can't be Broken," which I mentioned earlier. I like that one quite a lot...

What about some instructional or non-fiction DVDs? Sylvia Loch's are good, and there are lots about different breeds of horses, different disciplines and so on? Do they have to be fiction?
