Gorgeous horse, gorgeous location:)
The right saddle can make all the difference, what were your issues and what saddle overcame them? I'd be interested to know:)

Problems I had with saddle were a Tennessee Walking Horse walks with a lot of rolling shoulder motion, and a deep nodding action of the neck. Consequently, they require a saddle that is cut back at the withers to accommodate the increased neck action, and also one that is pared away on the skirts to allow for the shoulder action. These cutback saddles are not padded with knee rolls because the gait does not require any grip to ride it, so the leg is extended straighter down in a more relaxed manner. There is very little bend at the knee and the stirrup leather is only short enough to cause the toe to tip up slightly to maintain contact with the stirrup. This leg position is not as straight and rigid as in a Western Saddle, nor is the foot thrust forward like in Western equitation. Rather, the leg is held back and slightly behind the girth line to stay out of the way of the horse's shoulder.
In the end I bought a cutback English sadde which fits her perfectly!!

Just fantastic TWH addict. She looks wonderful.
Did you see the post last week from the new member with the farm in Tennessee,? I thought of you when I read it. Can't remember her name now. If you didn't see it, I'll make an effort to remember, unless one of you mods can...She has a fab website.

Hello everyone, I am new here from the U.S.A. own a arab/welsh cross 14hh. She is a barrel with legs! I had to buy three saddles to get one that fit, I ride western. The saddle doesn't hurt anymore but stills rolls when I get on and off. So I purchased a chinch that is suppose to keep the saddle in place. Anyone else have this problem? Havent got the chinch yet so still don't know if it will work.
Just wanted to say hi!

Welcome!!!
Sometimes the problem isnt the fact that she is barrel shaped, but her withers might have a little more of a slope, and set behind her shoulders, so what happens is after you put the saddle on, it slides down, losening up and thus, making it roll on you. My foundation QH is very stocky and his withers are like that. I put a breast strap on to stop the saddle from sliding down, and purchased a Bob's custom saddle, reining saddle, that fits him perfectly.
You can see his picture in the general thead under "Picture of my Foundation QH.
Dont know if that will be much help, but tried :)

She looks lovely. And Wow! What an incredible view you have from the field. That second picture ought to be framed.
