Hi all, well I have just come back from a holiday in the north of Germany where 20 of us took our horses. I was really scared to begin with, although I have been riding for 25 years I had a nasty accident 6 years ago (where I broke my back) and it knocked my confidence in a big way. well I was talked into this holiday (I live in germany) and had to go really, when we first started to canter along the beach with 20 other my horse thought he was in heaven and started to throw some bucks in, but I took a deep breath and let him go --------- waaahhhoooo
what a buzz, all I kept thinking was please don't fall off at this speed, but he really looked after me and I pulled in up after half a mile and he was loving it. It was the first time he had seen the sea and after a little asking he went in. It has done my confidence the world of good, and I feel he trusts me a little more as well.

Sorry to bore you all, just had to share that with you.

That sounds fab - lucky you.

It reminds me of the time I went swimming with a horse in Australia - the horse loved it and I loved it. Times like that when you really feel you and the horse have joined together are unbeatable.

I am very glad that you shared it. Like many here, I had a bad fall years ago...I broke my knee...and the first time cantering after that, it was difficult to overcome the sheer terror! Looks like you got past that ahd had a blast...good for you! I hope you continue on and enjoy many, many more hacks in your future. :)

Good for you. The last time I was on the beach with my last horse I would trot or walk up and down but not canter. We were going to go for a walk along the cliff tops but h kept pullliing his head sideways wanting to go and I got cold feet. Don't like canter at the best of times and was certainly not going to do along the cliff tops.
