I was wondering if I could comfortably...well for me and the horse ride a horse that is 14.3 hands. I am 5'5 and weigh about 145 lbs.
Do any of you ride horses that are on the smaller size and how does that work out for you?

I have a 14.3 welsh cob cross. I'm 5'4" and weigh in at 155lbs, or 11 stones, on a good day! My horse carries me well and we enjoy many hours hacking out as well as schooling. My boy does have good bone and a strong back and is a good weight carrier. I'm sure it would be no problem for you to ride a horse of that size. Good luck.

This horse is paint/quarter horse x, but is a light horse, I just worry about being too heavy for him but then I compare him to my boyfriends parents Arabian x who is 14.3h and think they are about the same size and I think I should be fine on him.

The horse won't know you are on his back!;) :D
Quarter horses are muscle monsters, strong as an ox.
I'd ride him without a worry for his welfare, and I'm lots bigger than you.

I'm 5'4" and about 125lb. I ride small ponies (some are much smaller than yours), for the riding school and have even shown some of them over jumps.
A 14.3 horse, if sound, should easily be able to carry your weight.
At your size, you should really be able to ride just about anything. Granted, smaller horses and ponies may be more responsive to weight shifts, but that isn't such a bad thing.
