Well, I'm finally getting my first horse this year for christmas. I'm so excited. She will be delivered once our barn is completed. Her name is Gracie and she is a 15 yr old TWH mare. She rode so great and is great with beginners. I hadn't rode since I was like 14 (I'm 22 now;) and she did great. Here is a pic of her.

I'm sure Don will be happy to finally get a friend. Here is a pic of him though I must get a new one soon as his winter coat is coming in so he looks very cute:)

She's gorgeous! I love TWH's, they are such cool horses and their gaits are fabulous.
And Don, what an adorable little thing he is!

Thanks, I just had to share with someone and I joined this site a while back after getting Don. I don't know many people that ride so my family and friends wouldn't really understand although they know it is important to me. Can't wait to start hitting the trails:)

She's gorgeous and Don's adorable
Is that Don as in "Don Quixote" or "Don Juan"?

Hey Heather! I tried to email you again a little while ago but it bounced... I was wondering if you ever got that Rebecca treeless, and how you like it :)

Don Quixote originally but I changed it to Don Juan its easier to say=)
TWH= Tennessee Walking Horse
And galadriel, no I never did get one because the waiting list was 9 months:o I did order a saddle though but haven't tried it on Don yet as we have been working on ground work. He is so hard headed it is very rewarding when I finally get him to do what I want lol. The saddle I got is a round skirt western synthetic with semi qh bars. I was recommended this style from a saddle donkey person I contacted and they said they knew a few people who rode donks of similar size with this type saddle. If it doesn't work for Don, I think it will fit Gracie as that's what I tried her in except theirs was a square skirt.

Ah! Too bad about the Rebecca.
Gracie's lovely. Good luck with her :) Did she gait while you were riding her? I've now ridden one TWH--courtesy of Katie_85--and it was such an interesting/strange experience. When you rode before, did you ride gaited horses?
Don's so cute. I recently had my 4th or 5th up-close encounter with a donkey...he's in a field adjacent to the ones the school's horses are sometimes in. I was collecting a horse out of that field, and the poor donkey made the funniest noises as I took the horse away. Sort of muttering under his breath. He was hardly being left all alone; there are a couple of larger horses in his own field. He just really sounded like he didn't want me to take our horse away...
I'm hoping one of these days I might be able to head back over there with some spare time (spare time? what's that?) and get a better look at him. I really don't know much about donkeys, aside from they're funny looking and very cute ;)

If I could figure out how to post pictures, I would show you my two yard -mates: our first horse Kona, a 6yr. QH/appy and Bo, an 18 yr sicillian donkey! We were given Bo this summer. He is grossly overweight and has a large neck roll, but is the sweetest little guy, and as willing a packer (we take him back-packing) as you could ask for. He is much happier now that he has a friend, though he is definitely the bottom of the totem-pole. He has a shed that only he can fit in when she gets bossy!

Congratulations! Your new horse is pretty!
Donkeys are sooo incredibly sweet. Their eyes are so kind. We have two donkeys at our stables, and they share a paddock with a miniature horse. That is definitely the cutesy-pie trio of the stables! The YO lets me feed them a few healthy treats and they love it. They stick those week donkey snouts forwards to take the carrot and it is soooo cute! I have attached a pic of them as I love 'em both so much!

Gracie is the first gaited horse I rode, I was used to riding bumpy short school ponies before:) She was very smooth, not at all what I was used to before (which has been along time anyway hehe) but very pleasant to ride.

Um she's at least 15 hands. The ad listed her as 15 hands, but she might be a little over 15 hands. It was hard for me to get my foot in the stirrup:D It would be nice if she and Don had a little mule foal lol wouldn't that be precious:)

Well Don, good for you.
I myself fell for the horse when I was 10, due to family cituations all I could hope for was to work at a barn for lessons (Germany 1972 and beyond) now after almost 30 years I have been able to realize my dream. I started with one in 1999 and now we have 6, we run a sm training facility/rescue in Wisconsin. I just now sold my company to return to school fro Pre Vet and work at a Animal Hospital full/part time. I love it.
So hurry to you for at last getting your horse. And a fine lady she is too.
