This is at a local show a couple of weeks back, what do you think? We didnt get round the course once!! Got disqualified both times for refusals, but it was a bit odd, only 2 refusals to be disqualified instead of three is this normal??

Hes not mine, just a riding school horse, but very sweet and it was only his 1st show! We did do better in the ridden classes because the judge fell in love with him!!

Well heres the 1st

What a lovely looking horse! He looks very much like one I used to know at a riding school I worked at briefly, his name wouldn't be Murphy by any chance?

He has a nice jump on him and you look like you have a pretty good position. I'd jsut say don't come so far out the saddle so early, it looks like you are folding to early, which means if he stopped suddenly you would be in danger of coming off. Try putting more weight in your heels.

Under BSJAS rules, 2 refusals result in elimination. Pony Club rules have 3 refusals.

You look like you're leaning forward a lot in the first and third photos. Your position in the second is excellent though! :)

Your leg position looks very secure and you're looking up and ahead.

Your leg postion is verys ecure and well balanced, well done!
I think you may just be leaning slighty on the enck with your hands for a bit of support, try to put your weight into your knees to give you more support and grip to the saddle a bit more, but well done.
GOOD LUCK for future shows!

You have absoltuely made my day! yes I used to work at Chessington Equestrian Centre, for about 5 weeks. Murphy is an absolute superstar, a really lovely horse. Him and another big bay gelding called Luran were my favourites. I rode Murphy in lessons a few times and he can really jump! He can be a bbit strong but he is such a trier, such a big brave heart for a young green horse! Good to know he is going out and about, he's a darling. My mom was looking at maybe buying him for my sister but unfortunately they wanted to much, he is a class hosre though.
I moved to Portugal after working there, so now ride at a specialist yard there.

Give him a hig from me if you see him again:D

Ah, thats so weird!!! What a small world! lol- by the way, sorry bout the length ofthis message!!

No, hes really cool!! Me and 3 of me friends went up there cos its less expensive to take a horse to a show for the day, had a lesson and my friend rode him, but didnt like him, so we swopped an i fell in love with him!! hes such a sweetheart, your right hes fantastic at jumping. I took him to just a little show, did coloured horse, which we came 2nd in... This was ONLY because the judge fell in love with him, i mean hes cute but not exactly show horse material, and the individual show wos not great, you probs no what his canter transitions are like.. the others in the class were really classy, nice posh cobs and a little palomino who *** v cute, but lovely murphy managed to beat them!!
In my 1st jumping class, nice and small, 2"3, we got over 1 jump, refused at the 2nd cos it was right by the exit, by his friends, got over that the 2nd time, but refused the next!! so in that class we only got over 2 jumps!! In the nxt, also little, 2"6, we were doing way better cos the course ws different, but he didnt like being on his own, so we got 2 refusals with only 3 jumps left!! I was so pleased with him, but gutted at the same time that we couldnt finish. Bless him!!

Oh, and luran, my friend took him, did well to. She came 1st in the riding club horse but when it came to jumping he went carrering of in the practise ring, very closely missing a little child, so she got freeked out :( I got on him and jumped him in the practise ring, all was good. Did it again towards the exit, managed to turn but he slipped cos the groud was slightly wet, and he fell over, rolled over on top of where i would have been (somehow i found myself rolling away from his HUGE side!) and next thing i know im getting up and grabbing onto his reins!! Youll be pleased to know he was fine and managed to do a LOT better than me and murph!!

How great is this board!

You're right about the canter transitions, he hasn't got the most tidy ones, but he is a real trier and comes down on the bit nicely when asked. That's great he got placed, the judge obviously has taste:D Sorry to hear about the jumping as well, he's not that old so he still has time to learn.

Luran! Bless him, he is an absolute stunner and so sweet and honest. Ooooh that sounds terrible that he slipped over! He is so big as well, 17hh about!

Who did your thrid friend take?

Nice Photos! Like showjumper said you seem to be getting infront of him on the second and third photo's maybe because your are using your hands as a support. But keep up the good work, lovley leg position and balance:D

in the third picture definatly and maybe in the first (cant really tell) you are jumping a little a head. in the first picture you look like you are really leaning on the neck, maybe try some jumping without reins? and stirrups to fix those two things?

i love the second picture, you look GREAT. lower leg could be shoved foward a little bit more but still im envious!

wow, i love to see lovely cuddly cobs jump! he looks like he has great style and your jumping position seems fine. just thought i'd add the way he jumps over those he looks like he's jumping 3ft or higher!! what a horse! don't worry about not getting round the course. my first time i was jumping a 2ft 3 course and i got about 26 faults!! and now i'm kind of getting placed!! (not so much every time)
