Hi guys, i havnt been on here in a while!!

I wondered if any1 could help, i need a VERY cheap GP saddle for my mare. I dont have a lot of money to spend on it but i would like it in good condition if poss. It has to be 17 1/2" and either m/w or w.

Its a long story why iam desperate but to cut it short, i am now at Hadlow college and my pony is on working livery there with me. I specilise in dressage so when i had a new saddle fitted to her i got a dressage one. now shes at hadlow she does more jumping so ideally i need a gp to jump in.

As i said before i dont have much money to spend on one but mayb i could arrange a p/ex as i have loads of stuff i am getting rid of, bridles, numnahs etc. SO CAN ANY1 HELP ME?????

Thanks all, Sarah x

Why do you not consider a Wintac synthetic saddle. They come with different sized gullets that are interchangable to suit the width of your horse. I have had one for two cobs and only one saddle, having had the gullets changed it has fitted both horses. Both have jumped poles and cross country in it. We also have a Thorowogood maxam saddle for my daughters pony, all GP saddles and she jumps her in this and it is fine. Thorowgood ones are not too expensive. Maxams start about £150 plus, Wintac about £250 plus, but look on ebay or some of the other sites, or even locally you will probably find cheaper. Also does anyone at Hadlow College have one for sale that would fit your horse. I am certainly struck on synthetic ones, easy to look after and although may not last as long as the horse, still present good value for money. If you are looking at the Wintac ones, if you can get a 2000 it is a more comfortable saddle than the 500, as my bigger backside can speak for!!!!
Good luck

I saw a make of saddle called Hi-Lite in a Shires catalogue... they cost £120 but if you visit this site: Clee Saddlery Site (http://www.cleesaddlery.co.uk/acatalog/Shires_Saddles.html) you can get them for £99. However, I have never used one so I'm afraid I don't know how good they are! :) I've used a second hand leather saddle from Shires for years though and it's good quality.
