Okay dokay. I got the hackamore with bit.

I am not sure about attaching this to the headstall though. As you all know, I am not familar with these and I want to make sure I do it correctly as it does not look like it would be very forgiving if I hook the headstall/reins to the wrong place. To see a pic of it, go to pfwh.com and go to

"short shank, SS twisted snaffle mo." in the horse/tack room section.

Thanks.

Sorry, not a freakin' clue on the hackamore, but did find a lovely bathing system to put on my wish list! :D

I can try to explain this the best way I can. Your hackamore is just like mine, except I don't have the twisted wire, mine is a chain. Okay... undo the bridle where the bits and mouthpiece is supposed to go, and put it through just beside the noseband in the squares. After you've done both sides, do the bridle back up where it's tied and connected and make sure it's good and tight. Next for your reins, I don't know how your reins are but mine has a buckle on the right side and a snap on the left. If your reins have a buckle, undo the buckle and run it through the loop (to whatever side yours has) that hang at the bottom of the hackamore and then do the buckle up and make sure it won't break or come undone. Then take your hook and snap it to the other side and you're done. I hope I've explained it to you in a way that you can understand. What kind of reins do you have?

Oh, I had it wrong like I thought. I had the bridle rigged onto the square-like "loops" right at the twisted wire. Duh! It's kind of obvious now that I look at it done right. Thanks so much! I actually have round reins but they have snaps, so snap on, snap off!

How would you suggest I adjust the curb chain when putting it on Tuffy? I would prefer to do the usual "two finger test" adjustment because I don't want it to be too harsh but want the leverage to still work properly. Is that the way you do it?

Thanks so much for your help! I hesitate to call up my friends and pester them over here for advice unless I have hours to hang out cuz they NEVER LEAVE!!!!

And Kate, glad I could help you to supplement your wish list (like it's so hard, right?!)!

Thanks, y'all :D

You're welcome :) I'm glad I could help. yeah the "two finger test" is good so as long as you can get two fingers, it's okay. thats how I adjusted mine. and round reins are good, snaps are so easy. well good luck with the tryout and be safe, and hopefully.... happy riding! :)
