I have an RA (Monty Roberts Associate) coming out on Saturday to spend some time with Ben and I working on groundwork and his lack of respect issues. Ben moves into pressure and I dont think he has ever been taught any differently. She also asked me if I had any access to any trot poles (which I do). I explained to her Ben's history and behaviour and that I was really nervous of him at the moment.

What sort of things will we be doing do you think? I have never had anyone out to work on groundwork like this, do they do all the work or do they get you to do it? Do they normally do join-up? and if they do, is it them that Ben will join up with or will they get me to do it

Ben is too small for the small size dually halter but I have my Parelli one (I havent started my parelli yet), what do they normally use?

Sorry for all the questions, just thought I would find out a bit more.

Sounds like a good move:)

I'd guess they'll concentrate on getting him listening at first doing basic backing up and coming forward exercises and will progress eventually to the backing through the L shape - that's what the poles will be for. If my session was anything to go by you'll be expected to do all the exercises the RA does with him as well, and get lots of help and advice.

He might be a candidate for a join up, they won't automatically do one, but if he is then the results tend to be transferable. It also depends if you have a suitable space for it.

I'm sure there's a market for a micro dually, the red one is much too big for the little ponies. It isn't essential, it just makes things clearer. Be interesting to know if they make use of the parelli halter:D

Let us know how it goes:)

Will post a report on Saturday evening on how it went - she is going to video it too, for her own training records I think, but I will ask for a copy to remember what we did. Its strange I really want Ben to be on his worst behaviour!!!!
