I'm not Tootsie4u either, but WOW that is an impressive combination!

For those interested the horse is a 16'3" TB x Warmblood, 5YO called Ted (Voyager). The rider is one of my pupils and also the owner of the horse. She bought him as an un-broken 2 year old and we have been working with him ever since. He was backed as a 3yo then turned away for a few months. He only really started jumping last winter.

They have just completed their first season eventing running mostly Pre-Novice and finishing the season with a Novice ready for next year.

I see a great deal of potential in these two. next season should be FUN!

Larri - 9 months ago she wouldn't have got over that jump on any horse. We just worked hard on her technique having to undo the training she had received to become an AI then rebuild her jumping to the way it is now.

Her younger sister jumps in exactly the same style.

Wow David - that's really impressive. You must be really proud of those two!

My first thought when I saw that pic was "what a cracking jumping position", and it's quite inspirational to hear that it's been achieved through hard graft rather than just "luck"! Ted looks like he really enjoys his jumping too!

When my spell of bad luck ends and I'm able to ride again (saddle in for repair so I've been lungeing till I'm dizzy) I'm going to build some jumps and practice till someone can take a pic like that of Murph and me! :D

Right David...so just when are you free to trawl down to deepest darkest Essex and laugh your socks off at just how bad we are then :o :D (usually a case of point enthusiastic Safi in right direction, stop breathing, close eyes and throw myself up her neck totally unbalanced...gawd knows how she puts up with me)

(PS - I can assure you that atm the only way you'd get me over a jump that size is to hit me over the head and throw me:p )

DavidH
3rd Nov 2004, 09:26 AM
Drookitsheep - I'm really proud of ALL my pupils and tell them so. They all work really hard at improving, or they don't stay my pupils for long. The only real way to achieve anything with horses is through hard (but enjoyable and fun) graft.

Larri - As soon as Safi is completely settled in new yard and comfortable in indoor school, let me know. We can arrange a date to suit if you really want to.
(PS. After six months serious training a jump that size would seem irrelevant, but we will start off MUCH MUCH smaller);)

David forget it. If you can get people to jump that good I need you here to teach dressage ;) Then I can compete against Esther in dressage driving and win :D ;) (oh and before anyone shoots me it a joke)

David, I'm sure you know I was just kidding and am full of admiration for that rider and horse and you of course. I've just been jumping a few cross poles and then not every lesson.

There's seems so much to think about when approaching the jump and then the whole thing seems to go by in a complete blur for me and I have almost no idea what I actually did.

I have to say tho that the last time I felt pretty good and didn't stand on my toes or throw myself forward at all which is what I usually feel like I'm doing and my instructor seemed really pleased. I am trying to concentrate on keeping my seat over the saddle and keeping my knees and ankles flexible and all the rest which is too much to list!!

Git over here to Texas one of these days!!

What a wonderful testament to your teaching skills. She has an awesome position!

DavidH
3rd Nov 2004, 07:27 PM
Thanks kedwards.:D
I wouldn't quite go as far as awsome, it is pretty good but still not where I want it. She is still too far out of the saddle (vertically) and the hands should be a little further away from the horse neck but she certainly isn't hindering the horse. By the end of this winter I would expect her position to be truely awsome ;)
Until then we will just keep working at it as I believe this combination could go advanced with time.

And, of course, when you jet overseas, be sure to stop in Connecticut on your way between Canada and Texas.

I think the very fast jet sounds like a fab idea!

While you're waiting for it to be delivered how about arranging a DavidH lecture/demo/clinic.... if everyone from NR bought tickets, you could put the proceeds towards the jet! :D

Hi david!

Did you put a post in one of the forum pages on the team chasing web site about being available to ride for a team? Was that you? The name was David H!

If it was you, did you find a team? And at what team chase were you/did you ride at? I team chase with the Court Flyers, will you be competing at the Readyfields Bloodhounds teamchase?

Jo xx :D

DavidH
5th Nov 2004, 05:29 AM
Hi JoJo,

Yes that was me but unfortuneately I didn't get a single offer:(
Very sad as I am really up for a bit of fast fun (leave it Shaka!).

Hopefully, my youngster will be ready to start the lower levels next year so will join a team then.

Did as the owner of the horse in the pic if I could borrow him for TC. The reply I got would get me banned from here if I printed it!

[quote]:p Miriam. Of course you will win...we are c***p at dressage...shetlands are hardly built for dressage. We always get good marks for impulsion and obedience...but are very rarely at the top of the score board. However, just you try beating us in the cones and obstacles! That is where we come into our own.. Not a single cone down in two whole seasons....and beat a World team member through the obstacles  Come and try it if you think you're hard enough ;) :D [quote]

Miriam...get out of my post  :D
"he he I'll get him to teach the shetland too :D Then we can really give you a run for your money"

Oooooooooooooooooooops Sorry :o Done it again. What is it that I love about editing your posts. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I must watch what I'm doing even when I'm having a rather rotten time with arumentative kids

I don't know...at my poor posts again

You just don't want to share David's tuition if he comes up north  :p

I will now repeat the main part of my original post  :D

David if you come up here can we grab you for a lesson too, provided you don't mind working with the very novice combination of Rupert and I who have never done any dressage or jumping together, but would like to try a little.....and of course he is only 13.1hh so it might be a bit of a change from your TB's etc ;)

Your right. I want to win. If your having lessons from one of the best you'll win. You have years of training ahead of me ;) and at least I inform you now. Also just don't want you to have any more new NR friends ;)

...........and as for the rest of your post mmmmmmmmmmm sound different ;)

Now, now ladies. A little decorum please!

Here's the deal. OH and I plan to spend a week at the Yorkshire Riding Centre in the spring. If this happens then we will visit both of you:D

So no more argueing and under handed post editing!

Shaka - I was alluding to some serious Team Chasing. It was the concern for how YOU would interpret the statement that worried me. I have seen how you treat poor Tim;)

How I treat HIM? Conspiracy! I have thought of many adjectives to describe Tim but poor is certainly not one of them:p

Got gang up and say I agree as well! Could you manage to find time to add Bucks to your list David H?

DavidH

Bucks is the closest one yet:D
Unfortunately, I am guessing that you are under the age of 18.

Due to the potential legal minefield I'm afraid the offer of help only applies to over 18's

I'm really really sorry and I have appologised to Esther both publicly and privately. I'd hate to fall out with my rival and wonderful helper in times of trouble. Even Rhi would never forgive me. We've both learnt a lot from Esther :D
