I started clicker training my horse a few weeks ago and have just started training her to stand (ground tie), although she stands still for mounting. It's definately worth trying but it might take a little while to get to the point where you can use it for that purpose. I haven't had much success training her to stand on her own (with the clicker), but am going to change tack and try training her to stand on a mat and then progress from there. It's fun but can be frustrating - I need to remember to take it slowly. You could train you horse more quickly if you do it every day - the horse I ride isn't mine and I only see her twice a week. The book 'Step by step clicker training' by Alexandra Kurland is very good.

Try; Ben Hart at Company of Horses. Great Guy, fab trainer, I'm sure he can give you some guidance.
