I'd love to have a go at this...!

Does anyone else do polo at all? I'd love to know more (don't have a clue about it at the mo apart from the fact that it sounds great!!)

I tried it at a camp once, definately not for me. I hit the ball once, but was so sfraid of hitting the horse that I couldn't bring myself to do it again. Definately fun though, you need a bombproof horse thats fast and nimble.

I learnt to ride at university through playing polo - or maybe all I learnt was how to stay on a horse at great speed!

It is FANTASTIC as a sport, really exilerating. Tricky to do, you are going at about 30mph trying to hit a small moving ball with a small stick.

It would definitately be worht learning on a trained pony so that it isn't scared of the stick flying about its head.

Up near my Grandma's house they have alll these stables and they have a Polo Museum... It's also where the Circuit is held, but that's another story.

I'm going to take a lesson (hopefully) on Sunday/Saturday and it might be on a Polo Pony... This should be fun!

I met a man at my old barn who was a polo player, he was so amazing to watch, the way he stayed on the gallop with no more concentration then as if he was breathing. It was really cool...

I to would like to have a go at Polo, but cannot imagine actually managing to stay on.

Adventure companies like red letter days offer a days polo, you get to train and have a go at one chukka I think.

I think the day out is based in Berkshire, but do not hold me to that. Depending how generous your family are, they could pay for this for a birthday or christmas present for you!!!!!!

Some of them most definetely are!

The man I spoke about in my other reply was sooo snotty! He spoke with a french-accent (fake mind you, my trainer told me he grew up in Illinois!) and he went marching around the barn like he owned it! He thought nothing of riding one of the 150,000 dollar WBs and then was a bit short with the owner!

But hey, you can't judge all people by just one of them, so you never know...

sorry to say most of the polo players i've had to put up with as a polo groom have been very up them selfs expecally the ones that travel the world playing i meet quite a few when i worked for ric stokes ( in Westren Austraila) i only stayed there for three months for quite a few reason mainly the lack of thanks for all the work and the horid hours we kept during the meet weekends. starting at three in the morning and fisinhing when ever the players decided they'de drunk enough and we could head home and then starting at 5 the next day was not my idear of a good work environment.

On a good note the game itself is great to play and watch if you have the skill and the rite horse
