Laughter!
I was riding Cheeky in the paddock at home tonight and he is normally very fussy and naughty.
I asked him into a canter and he did his usual tail swishing, threatening bucking canter.
And the best thing I could do was laugh!
It made me relax and ride him forward. By the end of the ride we were both quite relaxed and happy :)
