The half lease is way too hight

Well I am also looking into gettting a horse lease board half or quartre I just want to know which is better like in pricing through your opinion. Board or Lease I would only ride him mabe 3 days a week and have maybe 1 lesson per week which would u recomend? please email me at

Are you asking about loaning a horse or are you asking about livery costs?

Where are you? The costs for both will vary depending on where you are (which country, which county).

If you're talking about livery charges full livery with exercise/schooling tends to be more expensive, you can have full livery without exercise, working livery, part livery and DIY (and probably other permutations as well depending on the yard).

I'll try to answer the question I think you're asking.

If you are riding 4 days a week (3 days plus lessons), then you would need at least a half-lease, since you'd be riding the horse more than half the days.

Typically, a half-lease is no more than half the costs of caring for the horse (thus, it is cheaper than owning). Some leases are set up so that the monthly cost is a set amount reflecting some percentage of the board fees, whereas other leases may be set up so that the person leasing also pays a portion of farriery and vet expenses.
