I want to start showing my tb mare next season to give her a break from dressage and do something a bit different with her. I want to do novice WH, and in hand TB with her but im not sure what other ridden classes she could go in. she's a 15.2hh 8yr old, no pics im afraid but i'm working on that! Any ideas appreciated. apic realy would help, if you want to email it to me and i'll post it for you!
if she is a middle weight then she could probably do ridden hunters, and due to her height either small hunters or ISRT.
and you can do your height class as well, and any tb classes theyh do

She's actually quite a lightweight tb, I think she's deffinately too light and too small to be a hunter and she is too big to go in intermediate show hunter/show pony type they only go up to 15hh. My local shows don't do a ridden tb class which is annoying but i will do inhand tb with her. Could she do show riding horse/hack (i know nothing about this class please tell me if im totally wrong with this one!)

sorry stupid moment there- just realised you put intermediate show riding type not show hunter type. Yes, I think she could do this but i'm not sure what class it would be at local level- possibly show riding horse?

at local level stick her in what ever class you feel like doing, i regularly win the hunter pony class and cob class on my connemara then win the M&M's
yep she can do show riding horse,
have you got a particular show in mind, if so stick a list of last years classes on here and i'll tell you which ones you can do, which ones you will do better in and which ones you definately cant do!

ok here is a list, in the order they appear in the schedule
class 23 novice WH if she jumps well you could do well,
class 15 show riding horse/hack if she isnt too heavy put her in here its hard to tell with out a photo, any way coloured browband and either tweed or blue jacket,
class 18 ridden hunter if she is the heavier type however as it is mixed with the cobs, she would need to be a heavier type to do well
class 26 T&T if you can get everything spotless
class 31 family horse/pony, this will depend on her temprament alot! normaly the best type is about 14hh however ive seen 16hh hunters win this class as they were so quiet.
and the equitation class dependant on your age

I think riding horse/hack would be better for her as there's a horse at my yard who goes in the hunter class and is often told he's too light to be a hunter and he's chunkier than mine so she'd deffinately be too light. Thank you so much kanuma, you've been so helpful! YL x

i suppose the class choices vary from show to show. at the local shows round our area (Yorkshire) they tend to do a 'ridden horse' class which is usually the sort of thing for your horse and also depending on your horse's condition and conformation 'condition in hand'?

A good class for you to do would be the riding horse class. I am unsure of the correct turnout e.t.c. but i think it is a blue show jacket, yellow or beige johpurs. Your tie should match the colour of the velvet browband that your horse should wear, Hope i was of some help! :)

oooh danni dont let the showing people hear you call them yellow!!!:D :D they are canary!
yes thats right for a show horse/riding horse it is blue jacket sparkly bright coloured browband, matching tie, scrunchie and button hole, brown gloves and cane, black long boots preferably with garter strap or a zip up the back. oh and either a double bridle or a pelham, they are not shown in a snaffle unless they are true novices.

Thanks for all the help everyone :) can I just ask can anyone tell me the differance between a hack and a riding horse? Am I right to think riding horses are a bit chunkier and often bigger?

the riding horse is stockier (supposibly) and has less extravigant paces
