Carrying on from my post last night....

I got on nicky today and realised i didn't want to go faster then the walk, didn't wanted to jump and didn't want to ride down hill. So im right back at the start again!

I was ment to be riding in the second showjumping trial tomorrow, but there is no point if im scared to death, it wasn't important in the first place.

Today i lunged him with the saddle on and he bucked twice in the canter.

Most people may say harden up and teach him a lesson he shouldn't be bucking. but for him to buck there must be something wrong.

I have idenifend two spots just above his flanks that are more tender then they normally are, as well as a sore spot at the base of his neck on one side.

now i have a few questions.

Do you think im being oversensitive and he is fine, he's just being naughty, or should i pay attention to the change in behaviour?

Anything you recommend me to check that could be causing the problem?

And how should I once again start gaining back my confidences?

Im ment to be riding him again tonight.... but i really dont want to!!!! :(

my advice... always listen to your horse. They'll tell you if something's wrong!

Sorry to hear about your confidence issues, I'm sure many people on NR know how you feel.

I would agree with canadianbeaver and say that any change in your horses behaviour should be looked into thoroughly. In many cases, its their only way of letting you know that something is wrong. Of course, its not always the case, but needs to be checked out.

Sorry if I've missed any of your previous posts and am going over old ground, but have his teeth, back, saddle etc been checked?

Hey,

We decided he must have been sore from jumping that height, so missed the second trial. I was also very sore. Then the third and final trial to get in to the team was last sunday right in the middle of my exams so I wasn't able to ride all that week, and my dad also wanted to put the floor down at work.

So I decided not to go. I was very disapointed as I had a good chance of making the team, but exams are much more important as well as making sure nicky doesn't get sore like that again.

Have my last exam tomorrow morning :D then it's slowly back in to riding and getting ready for teh dressage trials :D.

Nicky is fine now much happyier no more bucking, iv just been lunging him lightly each day :d.

I must catch up with you again, find out want you have been doing!!! and how ** exams went :D. lol ill have to tell bf to leave so i can get on the net at nights hehe.
