my gelding has fairly bad feet and needs extra protection, so he always wears his over-reach boots.
i grease them with this gel stuff when he goes out to make sure they don't rub too much along with the mud which apparantly could take his skin off!

anyway, i was just wondering if there was anything to buy like a flat/soft piece of material to go under the boots to prevent them rubbing while he is in the stable?

i have searched through catalogues but not found anything!
i also thought about getting sound fleecy material or wool pile material and sowing on strong velcro.

any ideas?

I cannot remember the names of Hákon's boots, they are the soft ones with Velcro fastenings. He has to wear over-reach boots because he's a plonker and steps on his own feet. They don't rub at all, he wears them for 4 hours a day some days in the wet and the mud.

Have you tried the Woof Kevlar overreach boots? They're soft (might be the ones that Wally has) and have double velcro so stay put better than most. They're not particularly cheap, Ł25 a pair I think, but they are good and are soft enough that they shouldn't rub. Bebe has worn hers for 24 hours at a time when she was shod with trailers once and I never lost one or had a rub.

you can buy straps here to put around the fetlocks, either thin ones or neoprene ones, i have them for my mare. they are good. I use over reach boots(weighted ones) when i go out riding to influence the tolt a bit more and they are always too big for her so i have to cut them to size and because they move up and down a bit i use the neopren protectors and since then i dont have a problem. cost around 7Euros
