How to clean white full stocking legs....help please

my paint has four white full stocking legs and I bathe him twice a week with Mane and Tail Shampoo, and I can get the rest of his white spots clean, but his legs get so dirty and even though I scrub very good, I still can't manage to get them clean. He has the little hairs (dunno what you call 'em) and dirt gets in there too. I'd really appreciate any remedy to help with this, as it gets frustrating when I give him a bath and can't get his legs clean.

in the cavalry we wash the legs.....we tend to use fairy liquid rather than expensive specialist shampoos which we find don't work too well........get as much off as is possible, dry the legs thouroghly and then chalk over said stable stains...(get some white chalk and rub it on the stable stain)....this is only a short term effect though...suitable for shows and parades and things!!
