When people say about a horses outline or something like that, what exactley is it ? As i think this is what my instructor was trying to get me to do holding my hands further apart and up a bit and doing half halts and riding from my legs to my hands . She also said something about the horse letting go off the bit and its head going straight down instead of on a kind of slope !!!

A correct outline is where the horse is working well from behind with his hocks engaged, meaning he is stepping under himself. The horse should be working in a rounded outline as opposed to a hollow one, with his back and neck rounded and relaxed with acceptance of the bit. Basically, an outline is when a horse is using himself properly and working well.
A lot of young people seem to think an outline is getting your horses head in the right place, but you need the whole picture.
