My mare has her flu jab early on tuesday morning-my loaner wants to take her indoor showjumping (only diddy little things) on wednesday night, will she be o.k or will she need more time off?? she is clipped so shouldn't sweat.:(

The jab will not cause any problem at all. No need to worry:D

Really? I always got told not to ride for a few days afterwards because they could sweat the injection out? Old wives tale I suppose.:D

my boy had his last week. You are fine to do light work afterwards, according to my vet. This obviously assumes that your horse has no adverse reaction to the vaccs.
all the best

Not quite an old wives tale. had a long discussion with my vet when bob had his latest jab. This is a hang over from the days when the vaccine was not up to the current standard and could be destroyed by working the horse hard.

Nowadays, the vaccine does not have this problem.

I've checked with my vet about things like this and been advised no problem nowadays on working the horse.

Mine are having theirs done this Thurs and Zak is going for a jumping lesson on Fri.

Interestingly enough the vet offered me the advice of not working her for 4/5 days because according to him the particles contained in the flu jab can occasionally become attatched to the heart muscle
