Anyone any thoughts on what would be a reasonable price to pay for renting a 5 acre field - no water laid on, no field shelter? owner is asking 7.50 per pony per week with us providing everything else. At the moment Im paying £30 per month for 2 ponies for an acre of land with the use of a stable, store room and easily accessible water. However, I dont think an acre will be enough for all year round turnout and am looking for an alternative for part of the year. The girl who's pony I have on loan is also interested in sharing the field with her two horses. Anyone think it would be worth us trying for some arrangement where we get land at reduced costs (or preferably rent-free!) for first year or so if we pay to have water put in and sort fencing which would benefit owner if we moved on, although I think my friend would be staying long term. Has anyone had any experience of this sort of arrangement or am I being unrealistic. Would this be more expensive than paying the £15 a week? Any thoughts/suggestions v. welcome!
