He's a beauty, Dehydrated_rat, and certainly does NOT look his age. He reminds me of my friend's Arab that I've been riding (she has 2 grays). At 26 he's a little more sway-backed than your guy, but quite full of himself and ready for anything. :D

Love arabs.
Welshs, especially section Ds will always have a place in my heart, Connemaras are another favourite of mine. I would give my right arm for a friesian!
Not too keen on TBs, unless crossed with arab/welsh/irish.

My favorite will always be a friesian!!:) I dont think i like draft breeds anymore..sigh..after I've been stepped on by a percheron and kicked by a belgian..

Pardon me please please if I am misunderstanding, but I thought Friesians were drafts. Bad experiences can happen with all breeds.

Friesians all the way:D but then I am very biased.
will be posting pic of my baby tomorrow so won't post any now.
For your information
Friesians are riding or harness horses. They do well in dressage both under saddle and in harness, like performing in the circus too. During the Crusades they were used as warhorses. Then they did some farm work although they are not as stocky as a Dutch Coldblood, Percheron or Clydesdale. At about the time of the cursades the Friesian came in to contact with eastern horses which improved the breed as well as an infusion of Andalusian blood when the spanish occupied the netherlands during the Eighty Years War.
The Friesian was used to improve the other breeds such as the Oldenburg (this breed was mainly founded on Friesian blood) the oldenburg blood was then used to re-establish the breed.
The Friesian was bred by monks in the middle ages, these monks created europes first pure horse breed and the worlds first warmblood. The result is the Friesian.
Sorry turned into a ramble again, and a history lesson

Highlands are the best, then Fells, then Welsh Sec D's, then Exmoors and then Welsh Sec A's........ Can you tell im a native enthusiast! :D

Thanks for the lesson-I didn't know that about the monks. I think they are beautiful, but have never had the pleasure of meeting one-much less riding one. If they are not drafts, I have then seen them mis-classified fairly frequently. So they are both? I really am seriously uneducated on those larger boned breeds. I am an Arabian lover (very small)! ;) But I have seriously been considering a Percheron colt, and must do some reading up before I make up my mind.

No worries! sorry it was soo long! I myself am new to the breed in as much as I used to have a standardbred, QH and an Anglo Arab before. So i have been doing some reading up on the Friesian. ( all info i got was from the Australian Friesian Society, so should be accurate:) At the moment I am looking at two Anglo Arab fillies to possibly buy.
If you go ahead with the Percheron good luck. They seem quite sweet natured:)

I love arabs! but I also love cobby types to lol. I work for my dads friends in the summer time and help them gget their arabs ready for a canadan parade and the calgary stampede parade, thats the only time they are really ridden is durring stampede but they still behave like stars. I love the arab temperment so trusting. I watch them back their 3 year old tanzon and they just ploped the saddle on his back and rode off just like that. I also used to ride a arabxwelsh he was a hot head lol I may start taking him in pony jumpers this seson YAY lol

I love Arabs, had the fortune of riding one in hungery last autumn which was amazing.
Sadly though for someone who loves X country and stands over 6ft they never really come up big enough for security... though Sire, a dun mare I knew came up 16hh but I have seroius doubts about her parentage (suspect the 17.2hh TB I looke dafter might have been the father not the dimutive crabbett stallion who got the credit)
So now I ride and care for a cob X shire (amoungst others from fell, welsh D, COnnamara, TB, and pikey ponies). Worlds apart from Arabs but no less loveable.
@ Arab mare, love your pics. HOw big does your stallion throw? and his he homozygous or heterozygous? ... looks very dishy.
