hi everyone, just wondered if you could help
my pony has a ventral oedema on her undercarriage from roughly where her girth would go all the way back to about five inches away from her teats, it has developed rapidly since i first saw it late on tuesday night. it now hangs about 3 inches from her body and is very large in surface area and flat. also if you, for want of a better word, prod it, the indent stays.
The vet has taken blood tests today so at the moment i dont know whats causing it but she suspects either liver, kidney or gut problems. my pony was also given a diuretic sp? as the vet noticed fluid on her lungs.
does anyone know anything about ventral oedemas or them being caused by liver, kidney or gut problems?
any help would be appreciated, i will get blood tests back either tomorrow or saturday and hopefully that should help a bit more
thanks
Ann-Marie
