my darling horsey has this problem (only til spring i hope!!) and all i can say is that farriers formula is bloomin expensive but it really does work so it is worth asking santa for some . . .

also my farrier said to keep hooves really clean and to absolutely lather them with stockholm tar, but that's about it. apart from that it's just waiting for the supplements to kick in. :(

Try something called "Tough Stuff" for the time being. Can't rmember who makes it, I'll look it up for you later as right now I'm late for work! ;) :D

I have a gelding with a similar problem - generally just very weak feet. A friend of mine whose gelding also who has a similar problem has just recommended a product called Keratex which she claims has worked miracles on strengthening his feet. I have just bought a bottle (about £23 - but only needed to apply once a week). Available from most saddlers I think.

KitKat looks like she needs a hoof transplant!! I have been using Farriers formula and it is expensive but you can buy refill bags that are a bit cheaper than the big tubs, then you can empty it into an old ice cream tub or something......after only a month i can say it is definitely worth the money though!

Other than that Keratex hoof hardener is supposed to be good but i've never used it I'm afraid

Another good supplement although again is expensive. At the moment I'm feeding NAF hoof and hide and NAF Biotin but not 100% sure it's helping.

Thanks for the ideas ,I havent seen the farriers f in refill bags so Ill look out for it ,Ive started the biotin last week but Ive been told as you say becca its either a hit or miss and doesnt work all the time ,

Ive had a word in pollys ear and advised her it would be MUCH better if she could avoid standing at the gate in the mud ,but as usual being a mare did what she pleased ,she does love a good roll in it too:rolleyes: and shes a grey !!

My farrier recommended the Tuff Stuff. It's great, especially, for filling in nail holes to keep water out of those areas.
