vinegar...you all think yuk and the smell..but i ahve ridden a horse from summer til autumn with vinegar as a fly repellant and it has worked...and the horse doesnt stink either even with the sweat(just dotn get a really strong smelling one!)
the onyl other thing would be to feed the horse garlic because when you eat garlic and you sweat you perspire garlic out through your pores...but i think a spray on thing would be more effective
hehe im sure someone on here has a better idea

Aahhh... the answer to all your problems is solved. No more expensive fly sprays! No more messy vinegars! Lol, okay, before I really start sounding like a cheap tv ad, here ya go:

Avon Skin So Soft. Anyone ever heard of it for bug repellent? Works great!! Plus, smells quite nice, and don't worry about putting gloves on to avoid that vinegar smell... if ya get this lotion on your hands- it makes then softer! ;) Hope this helps ya guys!

Hi

If you mix a small bottle of citronella with 5 tablespoons of methalated spirit ,juice of 1 lemon, squirt of fairy liquid and a lirte of strong black tea you will have a cheap and good fly repellant

I agree with the comment that this is the best. I even use it on the locks in the barn to keep them working good.
