I there anyone in the Thetford area who either does or would like to do western and cattle work? - my friend and I ride toghther and when we compete team up together, the problem is that for some of the cattle events you need three people in a team, if you are local we could also try practicing a bit more?

Hi Jessey

Scotland's a bit far :D

Besides which my Appy thinks cows are a bit scary. She lives on a farm  Actually she's a bit better since she was in a field with some, but I'm still not sure how she'd react to working them - and my brother-in-law might object to me experimenting.

Its a good thing we don't use horses for sheep as well - sheep are EVEN SCARIER !!!

I grew up in Norfolk - aren't there western folk out there ? I know Heathlands is not active anymore, but surely there are a few folk around as a result of all their previous activities, clinics etc ?

well, we DO have cattle (or rather my brother-in-law does), including a long horn and a couple of her offspring :D

Not sure how impressed he would be about us playing with them tho'

My sisters horse used to get used to check the sheep at lambing, but my mare is somewhat less sensible... when she first went (loose) into a field with cattle, her strategy was to gallop straight at them  Luckily they ignored her so so she got slower.... and slower... as she got closer, then veered away and pretended that she hadn't been doing that really, honest

Qaboos used to run the opposite direction from the mooks as fast as he could, but now he has realised he is in control and thinks its a great game!
Where abouts are you - out of interest????
