Why do people say horses will be less behaved when out hacking too? I have yet to learn this, for me and my family have different terms for these.

Thank you once agian

yup hacking is trail riding. It took me awhile when I first started on NR to get it straight, but now I never say trail ride and my family and friends from the states all look at me like i'm dumb!! :D
Hacking alone is simply going on a trail ride alone. Some horses will be better behaved when hacking in company, while some are actually better behaved when out alone. People say they are more likely to misbehave when hacking sometimes because when hacking you are more likely to run into "scary" things such as cars, trucks, trailers, cows, sheep, paper blowing int he wind, a scary blade of grass...oh anything really...hehehe...as well as, when out in the open, even wind could scare them. It's not enclosed like an arena, so there's more "room for error" and for the horse to be nappy! :D hope this helped a bit, and hope it's all right, and if not one of the more knowledgable members will no doubt correct me! :)

oh, one other thing: that was NOT a stupid question at all, and don't ever be afraid to ask anything here...I ask LOTS of stupid questions!!! :D

That's funny. I asked myself the same thing.

Reading through all the post is interesting because of the different, for lack of a better word....slang. Mayber that's not a good word. I know this site is based out of the UK.

Aliw...for pete's sake... Fine then, from now on when anyone writes USA it must be U.S.A. :p The dots just take up more space! ;) UK is the same thing as U.K. hehehe :D

Think aliw took 'based out of the UK' to mean not based in the UK - that was certainly what I thought it meant, rather than being specific about dots!
