hey again.
nicky has weirdly developed and issue and i would like some of nr advice. It's summer over here and nicky has developed a head Flicking problem. I can't find it to relate to anything. The only thing i can think of is an allergy(sp) to the pollen in the air as he does a sharp flick of his nose.
Any ideas

hmm - doesn't sound like pollen thing to me, unless he's doing it in his field aswell.
When were his teeth checked last? Does his bridle need adjusting?
My old stock pony would toss his head when he had the strops. Just letting you know he was cranky & he wanted to go home.

I pin pointed it more today. I watched him in the paddock and he was doing it worse then ever!!!!. Standing at the shed he was fine, lunging to the right he was perfect then lunging to the left he was throwing his head around and throwing little tratrums(sp) after a while he was fine, jumped on bareback and he started tossing it again (without any pressure on the reins)
Rang the vet it's ment to be quite common around here. And it could be related to the sunlight. Heading to the tack shop tomorrow to look for a sun mask thing to see if that will work.

Just one thought, do you have alot of midges and flies around at the mo as its summer there?
My boy had a real problem with midge bites in his ears last year and he was forever shaking and flicking his head about. Had to get the vet out in the end and stable him as he wouldn't wear a fly mask.
