WOOOOOHHOOOOOOOO!

Okay, today was the big day! I just got back, I was there for a few hours. Dubie passed with flying colors!

We did not tell the doc anything about the first vet check, we wanted to see what he saw. He ran him all around, checked heart rate etc...He is cowhocked, back legs and his front is a bit splayed but not bad. Basically his conformation is not all that. He would not make it as a show horse. Which is cool for me cos I'm just going to trail him on weeknds etc...His temperment is excellent and that is a plus. He is wayyyy out of shape cos he was stalled for a year & the vet check said riding him would get him in shape. Start him off just a 15-20 minutes a day to get him to build muscle etc...Something weird with his tail though. He did not really know what, said it could be that someone could have done surgery to make his tail limp. Like maybe he swished it way too much...???It had a lot of flex in it. Anyone know what that is. His best feature was his temperment & the worst was he needed some major exercise. His heart rate went up with the running around he did.

We officially measured him. He is between 15hh & 15.1hh. Perfect size. He weighs about 1000 pounds and can use some weight. So it looks like I may get him. What do ya all think? He is awsome. The vet said he was still kinda green because Dubie still has some things to learn but the temperment was important because he is so willing. Because of his temperment the doc said he would make a great first horse.

I am doing the happy dance right now. Now I can breathe!!!!

:D :D

Hey Christy...I seen your post last night, so I knew I had to let ya know. I am sooooooo happy.

Like I said before, Dubie is really out of shape. He does have a funny clumsy walk but I have read about other horses that people post about.

Check out the pic of mohawk on the other post. It's just a matter of trying to get my husband to understand that he would be a great horse for my daughter. Last night I did a seach of horses over 16 years old and most of them were 18-22 and ranged from 2500.00 to 4500.00. WOW! I guess you pay more for a very well schooled horse. It's just a lot going from no horses to possibly 2 horses and I don't know all that much. Hands on will be my learning experience.

Thanks to all of you for caring and being concerned. I will keep you all up to date with my horsey adventures!:)

Yep, you def. pay for what you get. A well schooled safe horse is obviously going to cost more cause all the work's already been done! ;)

Didn't you say that you had planned on moving your boy home at some point? If you are, then at that point you will most likely need a companion for him anyway. So if you really like Mohawk and you and your OH are willing to pay out for a horse for her...it may be a good option for you! :D

Can't wait to hear more...oh...and see pics too!!! hehe

Sounds wonderful!!! I did not read other post, but my superior powers of deductive reasoning tell me that this is a horse you ae purchasing for your daughter?

He sounds like a love, I'm sure she will be ecstatic!
