Hi, My YO has a very cute 11hh ish welsh section b gelding, 'thelwell' pony, hes a lovley chap and will do anything for a fuss. He is 3 yrs so YO wants to look at getting him schooled later this summer ready for the kids. I have done a few bits and bobs with him, tried loading him - 10mins flat and he would go on every time. I put saddle and bridle on him and he never bothered a bit. Then a very slight built friend of mine came to visit, so we put her on - 15 minutes and she was sat up and kicking him on (still on a lunge but none the less) he wont be hard to train (I don't think) but its having someone little enough who has enough exp. Does anyone know of places that might do this or could anyone recomend anyone?

Thanks

J

PS posted this in training the horse but got very limited response - any help greatly appriciated.

Hi try a riding school they may know some talented and willing children who are up for a challenge! Some riding schools may let one of their clients/riding school helpers school him in lessons. Thats what I used to do when I was younger and helped at a riding school.

I don't think this is a job for a young child, he has only been sat on once. We need to find someone with experiance on backing as the YO's son will only be 4 next year and she wants him to be able to ride him.
thanks

Hi its a shame your not nearer South Wales as my daughter is 10 and has backed and is bringing on one of our section A's, Spirit. She loves it. We already have one Sec. A, who we have had since he was 9 months and he is now 7 years old. We broke (if you can call teaching him from an early age that we are his family!) him as well. If I know of anyone up your area I'll let you know.

Hi

We are in a place called Cwmbran not far from Newport and Cardiff.

No probs if you want to PM me and we can discuss any thoughts/probs you may have. We have shown Jazzy Boy (Favorite Number 1 Section A) in hand as a yearling, two year old and under saddle with my daughter on him. Didn't get too far but was never last so was very pleased.:p

You could always get a light weight adult to do the schooling. My pony is an 11.1hh Welsh A and he carries me very happily (I'm just under 7st and 5ft3")

Unfortunatly I probably weigh to much and the YO is to busy hense the need for someone else, its trying to find a small adult who would want to take him on, where do you even start to look?
