Hi ya i love eventing, have done little of it though, because my first horse i broke in myself and it was 7 months before i let him set foot on a proper course, and he was too much too handle, so i had to sell him. And my one at the moment loves it but FMD stops us, and she also hasn't really been ridden properly for 8 years (by her previous owners) and she's not getting any younger, she's 20 and starting to get a bit stiff. this man let me exercise his gourgeous welshxthoughbred 16HH dark bay gelding, (he's scared of him) he let me event him, he was unprediatble and didn't like people telling him what to do. i loved him and trusted him so much i put just a headcollar on him and galloped him up and down our fields. We had the best time flying over the jumps, yet anyone esle couuldn't get him over a 1 ft jump. Unfortunitly the man got jealous i can no longer ride him sob! i wish i could buy him, but the man won't sell him and he's too expensive because of his breeding.

how long have you evented? what are your horse/s like?, do you have regrets? which area/country do you live in

Hey! Well this is my 1st yr of eventing and I've been taking lessons for about 8months. I learn very fast! My inscrutor is the BEST! :)
Sounds like a very agressive horse...he would make an awesome eventer by the sound of it! That's weird that the guy wont let you buy him if he's scared of the horse!! He just needs ppl to get over the fear of him and he'll make a good showing horse!
I am currently training my mare that is a welsh/mix but I wont event on her! She is to small! :p This summer I am going to lease a TB for a yr or so! Until i get into the higher levels and then buy my own horse. I live in the USA and in the state of Pennsylvania. I do have some regrets..like i wish that had started taking lessons at the age of 4! But it took me forever to get my parents to let me take lessons! Now I ride 6 times a week and work 2-3 horses a day! So at the moment life is good!
where are you from? And how long have you been riding for? What areas have you evented in?

i have been riding for 5 years not that long considering i have never had lessons, i was taught by a friend, then i loaned a nutty pony that would only buck, i mean only buck it couldn't go out because it was scared of traffic (it had a accident with a car), well until i got it, it was hacking out about 2 months after i got it, it just need a confident head strong rider ME! she was only 12HHs great jumper if she had been bigger i would have bought her and i think she could have done really well in proper eventing, maybe have gone to the top, she could jump 4ft with me on her and at that time i weighed about 8 stone and was about 5ft 6, so i had to give her up, you can tell by the height thing. she never liked colours on the road though went all funny, just like the one i have know! she taught me so much how to stay on, her bucks were vicious over excitement. the most embarrassing time was when i was at a show, and her closet friend galloped off the rider unable to control him the rein was not done up properly and so fell off. she (Kizzy) reared becasue i wouldn't let her go, then put her head down and bucked 7 times i sailed head first on to the floor and bounced, and i was winded, and of course all the showjumpers came up looking down on me saying do u want a ambulance) she taught me how to properly jump, how to keep up with a whizz kid of a pony.
i am from England i am about 25 miles out from london in Hertfordshire lovely countryside hacking here. i have only evented around this area, my horse won't box well, when i bought her it took 7 hours to get her in the box, i am going to practise during the summer, after my GCSE's. but my horse is on a yard that has regular shows so we have about 50 cross country jumps of different heights and styles, and we have many different show jumps.
i intend to keep my horse at the moment till i can afford to get a proper eventer, Something like a 16HH irishxthroughbred 6 year old mare or gelding, and then i want to try and get to higher levels, but i also need some proper lessons to sort out my bad habits that i know i have.
the thing is the horse don't like the guy he orders CG thats the horse around. CG stands for Callander Gypsie, Gypsie was his mothers name a top endurance horse. Cg loves to pretend he will jump a jump then skid around so he's standing beside it, i can't help laughing, once i had to get on him because they had tried to get him over a jump for an hour, and i had to teach him that he had to go other it, i made them look like fools! Sorry i sound bitter it's just i have many runnings with this guy, he tells me what to do with my horse when his one is the one that won't do anything for him. it sounds like you doing really well, it's good you have a good instructor i wish i had! sounds like you have your life planned out, i want to event but maybe not proffesional, i would like to be a specialised horse vet.

how old are you? how do you get so much time to ride horse? i hardly manage to ride 4 time a week on my own horse. my parents so don't care about horses i pay for everything except the feild rent.

Hey! I event too (as you already know):) Oh ya, Eventer- do you know which horse you are going to lease? We have some friends over there who have a really nice TB that they are plaaning to lease out since their daughter went to collage and lost interest. Hes 16.3hh and a beautiful dark bay with a blaze- very cute...

Well that's cool! I've ride 6 times a week...and i ride 2-3 horses a day. It all depends on who needs to be worked at the stables! :) But I love riding and competeing. I think well I know I want to compete professionly! I would like to make it to the Olympics someday! But eventing is so expensive :( But I'm still praying that I will make it to the top! I would like to go to England and study over there and get certified! I am 15! YAY and am turning 16 this yr ;) So I'll be able to get to the stables more often!

SR> Nope I have no clue my trainer is looking..i like big horses! It's to bad that we live on opposites coastlines! Or I would take up that offer!! How much would it be to fly a horse over? Isnt it expensive??

The horse I am talking about is in Virgina, which is pretty close to whare you live if I am correct. I will ask our friends about it and see if he is still availible, or will be when you want to lease (do you have a time frame?). He is a bit of a handful, Ive only ridden him once, but if you can control him he is a wonderful ride. Hes about 10 or 11 right now I think, but ill check on that. I shouldnt think vanning him over would be terribly expensive, but yes flying is upwards of $2500 (We, or my grandparents, are paying over $20,000 to get my new horse over from germany. Because of FMD the quarentine takes twice as ling, and costs a good deal more!)

But if you can send me any info that would be GREAT!

Ill email you some info tomarrow or the day after. I have to get ahold of them first, and god knows how long that will take... anyway, they will probably let you take him on a weekend trial if he is availible. I warn you though, if you lease him for a year they will ask you now and again if you are interested in buying. They want to find a good home for him through a leaser, but arent in any hurry to sell him...

OOPS- just hafta add that his name is Orion, show name being Galaxy of Stars (I think, unless they changed it...)
