trotting without stirrups takes a lot of muscle. It is a very difficult thing to learn and learning it should be taken slowly.

assuming you are talking about posting trot remember that you shouldn't be TRYING to rise from the saddle, the horse does that for you let him push you up, where you need to work is letting yourself down easily. Since this takes a lot of muscle only do it for a couple trot strides and take a break. by pushing yourself while you are tired you will only bounce more and become more offbalance making things harder for you and your horse.

also when first starting it is much easier to do so on the lounge. that way you dont have to worry about where to do and just on the work you are doing.

goodluck and dont worry much about it, it takes a while to get it right!

:) thanks for the advice i will try that my instructor has me on a horse with a very smooth trot so it is hard to get a bounce out of her to bring me up

Try to relax and never look down. Stretch your legs as long as they will go. Smile while you ride it will help no end.;)
