sorry, this might be a bit boring but i just have to share :D

we went on our longest hack ever today!! went with another rider and ventured to a set of bridlepaths a bit further afield! getting there is a bit of a pain as you have to ride through a lot of houses (we got chased by kids on rollerskates and a BMX bike .... aaah) and cross a big road (which the other horse didnt like ...).

the paths we went on are quite nice, but to get on them from the road is a bit of an assault course!!! we went down a steep and muddy slope, up some steps and through a turnstyle with the gate missing (ie. a square of high-ish wooden planks with posts round them ...). who needs le trec when north london has so much to offer, hurhur :D

angel was an absolute star, she only got 'iffy' when we walked past a pitch full of very noisy sunday league teams that kept bashing footballs on metal ... i think she got a bit scared because she couldnt see them and only heard the noises

i am still patting myself on the back for having found such a lovely, safe and, most of all, footsure little pony :D and i think angel thoroughly enjoyed herself! she was plodding along like a little windup toy :D

Sounds great:) How long were you out for? You certainly picked a day for it if it was anything like it's been up here.

I absolutely love going new places and discovering new bridleways, unfortunately after 2 and a half years at the yard I've pretty much been everywhere there is to go round here without spending all day in the saddle. Need a trailer:D Going on rides like that really makes you appreciate the true value of your non posh but very reliable horse:)

Hi there(Julia) did you go along the railway track?? Was it very muddy!

yep, we did!! and i now understand what you meant when you said people shouldnt go there on their own!!! i certainly wouldnt!

it wasnt actually all that muddy and we had long stretches of trot (no canter as yet, because phoebe can get a bit scary in canter so we didnt want to risk it!). only the bit that runs next to the football pitches (sunday -> very noisy!) and the bit where you go under that bridge worried angel a little (dont think shes ever gone under such a bridge before ...). its nice there though! but the way there is a bit scary, especially when children chase you on bikes
