Hi, one of my ponies, Pepper is for sale, and if people come to veiw him, what do you think I should show when riding him for them?
He is green in flatwork, especially canter, and very fizzy and sharp, but has quite a good jump on him if he's careful.

My advice would be as honest as possible about him, the good and the bad. Warm him up on the flat but if it isn't his strong point move on to jumping and show off what he can do.

Don't spend ages though, there's nothing worse than getting on a horse to try and finding it's already knackered. I've arrived to try horses on two seperate occasions to find they have been ridden before I arrived, that made me very suspicious....

Yes, we are going to be honest with him.
Another problem is his catching. I know people like to see a horse being caught, tacked up etc, and I know I would too. If he saw strange people I'm pretty sure it take 10 minutes to catch him. Sometimes, even if it's just me, he mucks me about. He doesn't have a headcollar on, but if he did, would it look bad?
So what would you rather, showing what he does completely, without headcollar on, or having the headcollar on so he will be easy to catch?

A couple of the horse I've looked at buying were not easy catchers. To me, it's quite annoying. But it dosn't matter. It's something that can be worked with. For me, it's about the horse, not how hard it is to catch.

Possibly have him in a round pen with they get there. And just tell them about him not being the easiest to catch.

If he is fizzy have you thught about maybe slightly lunging him before ridden? not only that but dont make him out to be a saint so they dont expect anything different from him.

Show his good points ride him long enough but not so long he starts to get wound up and fizzy and GOOD LUCK
