Hi. Hehe I've been making lots of boards recently... O_o Anyhow... My arab/appy mare, Jazzy, is stubborn, sort of buddy sour :o and a little too smart for her own good. Hehe. But she's REALLY fast when she wants to run and quick on her feet, so I know she COULD be a pretty good gymkhana horse. The problem is, she has NO desire to run AWAY from other horses in an arena by herself, and I haven't figured out a way to make her want to. Sometimes she won't even MOVE away from the other horses, she'll just plant her feet and I have to get off. (crop, spurs, circling, etc. doesn't work. And this is going to be REALLY embarassing if she does it at the little gykhana I'd like to go to in a few weeks! Don't worry, I don't plan to win, but I want to have fun and not end up in a battle w/ my horse(which I'll most likely lose!) Oh and the refusing to move thing isn't totally consisent, sorta depends on her mood and stuff... Help? :D

well I really dont know if this will help but:

dont lunge her unless you really have to.

use steady pressure with heels ( use western spurs)

DONT give up!!!( the horse will think they have won if you do)

sorry if it dosent help!! :)

I agree with mustangfan and also try working her in the arena with no other horses in sight. If she starts acting up try atleast hand walking her and do some roundpenning or lunging.Do this everyday and lengthen the amount of time. I hope this helps.
