I am trying to find some long riding boots to fit me. I have a short leg and wide calf.
Leg height from floor to back of knee is 41 cm
Calf width at widest point is 45 cm (or just under)
Can anyone help or is my only option to go for gaiters by the English gaiter company. They do some that I think would fit.

I'm not sure about exact lengths but I'm 5ft3 and my legs are definetley my shortest bit!! Most of my length (which aint alot!!) comes from my body! And being a sprinter (runner) and not a naturally thin personal anyway I've got calves like tree trunks. I've always had a problem finding boots. I have eventually found the perfect pair, there the Sarm Regali 500 Long Boot. They are absolutley beautifully, fit like a glove and so comfortable!!! They aren't cheap. I paid 225 although I think they are a little cheaper in derby house and possibly other places. But then when I thought about it I paid 90 for my gaiters and 65 for my boots and they don't look anywear near as nice and are no where near as comfy!! Would definetley recommend them!

I like Aigle as they have a nice breathable thermal lining so although they keep you nice and warm they're relatively easy to get off at the end of the day.
They come in a variety of calf fittings (s, m, l and xl) so you could probably find a pair to fit :)

I have similar problems with boots but my problem is that I have size 4.5 feet so companies expect me to be 12 with twig-like legs rather than the muscled beasts that I developed through dancing and ice skating  Believe it or not I DO NOT look that deformed ;) but trawling through saddlery after saddlery gets really embarrassing when you can't get the damn things more than half way up your calf
I ended up with Tredstep and Ariat joddy boots and gaiters though I still hanker after a nice pair of long boots. I've been told that my only option is to have some custom made. Tredstep do lots of width/height variations so are better for a short leg/'wider' calf whereas Ariat do the widths but increase the heights as the calf size increases which are ok for me as I like them long but probably wouldn't work for you. Tredstep are nice quality though, especially the gaiters :)

I'm 4'11" and I found it impossible to get long bots that still let me bend my knee. Then I heard about Tyne boots from the Muck Boot Company. They're rubber at the foot and part way up the calf, then Neoprene from there. That means they're soft and stretchy and still waterproof. Best of all, the soft Neoprene means I can bend my legs. They have a reinforced toe and heel and a steel shank so you can ride in them. Getting them on is easy as you can fold the Neoprene down, get your foot in, then pull the Neoprene up like a sock. Same for getting out of them. Nearly everyone at my yard has them now as they're so warm and comfy.
However, if you're wanting long boots for showing they might not be sleek enough. They're £56 and I ordered mine from Frogpoolmanor on the web. They arrived in under 48 hrs and they're brilliant. I can wander about in bogs, muckheaps etc without being too precious about them, but I can still jump on a horse without having to change. Wouldn't be without them for all the tea in China. I still hanker after leather longboots, but I don't think I'll ever get any to fit me.

Have the same problem. I also have a 41 cm back of calf, but I did find some long boots by Regent that fitted my calfs. They were a little long at the back, but after several weeks of wearing them in they have dropped a little at the ankle. I will now get my saddler to trim up the backs to the correct height and sew them. So will have the correct fit at the back as well. You can only do this on pull on boots though, not on long boots with zips in the back. If the backs are a little long, you can also get heel wedges that raise the back of the book a little and this may help.
I went to one of the bigger saddlerys in the Essex area, where I knew they would have quite a selection of different boots and different prices. Mine cost about £145, but since I will not grow taller, bigger etc I feel they are worth it, and make me feel good when I am riding as well.
By the way my daughter has just found a pair she likes and fits her these were £210, but again, she has stopped growing now and will not wear them out for years and years to come yet!!
Good luck and keep hunting

I've got chunky short legs too (5'1" tall and calves 16" plus I think)! I have a pair of Agile short extra wide rubber boots and they fit lovely. :)

i'g go for boots with zips up the back. my calves aren't particularly short, but they are wide and i have funny feet so i can never find a pair of regular pull on boots to fit! i'm a mountain horse covert and love my high riders (although they only come out on lesson days) and their rimfrost riders were the best investment i've made, sooo warm!

Thanks guys. I like the look of the Equitector and they will fit going by their size chart.
The also look smart enough for dressage.

:D Yay!!! I should be getting comission!!! They are approved for BD and BSJA and look really smart, everyone whose seen them has commented on that. Also as the elastic is on both sides of the zip you get a really nice snug fit...... :)
If you go on there website it's always worth checking out the Bargain corner as sometimes they have long boots reduced, saving money is always good when horses are around!!!!

Sophini... thank you so much for the equitector link :D I've been looking for long boots for short legs/big calves for over a year.
I get my company bonus this month, so I think I might treat myself to a pair of boots.

:D More happy NR-er's!!! Our Sunday groom works at Frogpool Manor which is a BIG saddler in Kent and she looked at them and said there at least comparable with Mountain Horse but with the added bonus that the elasitc on both sides of the zip put equal pressure on it so it will last longer then other zip-up stretch boots. She also said the guy who owns the company is fanatical about his boots, all he does is ride his horses and think of what design of boot would work best...
I've never had a normal fitting in a boot and usually have to wear a straight top or have the backs of the boots cut down so to find a zip boot with a snug fit round the leg that is not too tall and has a really warm cozy foot, is smart enough for hunting and eventing but will survive standing in a wet sand school teaching and costs less then £200!!!! VERY happy girl now!!!! :D :D
