I dont have a hole puncher and need to make some more holes in a pair of synthetic stirrup leathers.

Any suggestions? I don't want to wreck the structural integrity of the stirrup leathers by burning a hole (if thats the wrong thing to do)

Thanks....

Can you not nip to your saddlers and ask them to punch you some holes.

It depends upon what material the synthetic leathers are made of.

If it is just ordinary nylon webbing then use a red hot spike and burn the holes in, If it is the same material Throwgood and Zilco use then you need a hole punch, simply burning it won't do it much good. Some plastics burn rather than melt and become brittle and weak.

Rabbit, if you are really deperate and cant get a hole punch then my dad used to use a 6" nail and hammer, over a soft piece of wood. It worked on leather very nicely but im not sure how it would work on synthetic material.

or try a drill.

I use a drill for adding holes in leather. I'm not sure about how it would work on the synthetic leathers. You could always try a sample hole down at the free end first just to make sure.

The drill worked on my web backed leather girth straps although I got a few tufts!!
