conversion hands into cm and vice versa

Anybody knows how to convert hands into centimetre. I would like to know how tall is my horse in hands. She is 173 cm.

Thanks for asking this, I have been completely bamboozled as to working out how high they are in CM's. A hand is 4 inches. So 10 cm is 1 hand. therefore 14.2hh would be 145cm. Is that right? :confused:

I know that 1 inch = 2.54cm.
so 1 hand = 10.16 cm
then there are 4 inches in 1 hand (that I did not know thanks Kerry).
so I guess 14.2 hh = 147 cm.
