hey guys. I went to a proper riding school yesterday. The stables were impressive. There were about 80 horses there and several different arenas for different riding levels. My new instructor was very professional and no nonsense. He put me on an ex circus horse and I walked a couple of times around and then he said "lets trot" . Before I could even think of protesting, I was trotting!! It was such a smooth transition and even though it was a slow trot, hey its still a trot. Anyway I didnt last the whole lesson trotting. I had an op on my knee a year ago and half an hour in my leg started killing me so I called it a day. It was sooo wonderful. My body is aching today. My previous instructor would have me walk for about 15 minutes ( the other 15 minutes of the lesson were spent on him running after his horse and putting the saddle on her). So trotting for half an hour was amazing. I feel like I achieved more in yesterdays lesson than in a month and a half with my ex instructor. The other guys in the group couldnt make it yesterday so it was kinda like a private lesson which was great for me. I feel confident enough to learn in a group and the next time I am going to try and trot for longer and maybe even be brave enough to canter! Even though I didnt ask for the transition myself or steer the horse myself and I was just a passenger yesterday, I'm not so terrified of trotting anymore.
Ps I called my ex instructor yesterday to ask him to refund me for the lessons he still owes me (I pay in advance) since I'm taking lessons somewhere else and he was rather nasty. I'm glad I dont have to learn with him anymore. Hes admitted to being a drug abuser and that might be why he sometimes has multiple personality disorder symptoms.
