Hi,

I just bought stubben stirrup leathers from ebay the ones with the wee blue dot, I got them yesterday and they were quite hard, so oiled them, but after 24 hours the oil is still wet!

Should stubben leathers not be oiled?

I was told by my tack shop that Stubben stuff is already oiled so don't need doing (they were talking about bridles but I'm presuming that the same is true for leathers).

Hi,

I was wondering if they had been oiled but they were very very hard thats why I oiled them, if they have been oiled, how long will it take for them to soften or to be able to oil them more to help soften them.

Ive got those stirrup leathers and was also told they were pre oiled but they were so hard I had to put a few costs of oil on, I only used them once before oiling them and they were full of marks and nicks

With stubben leathers, I prefer to saddle soap with a glycerine based product to soften them, as they seem to absorb that better - even if it doesn't soften so quickly :)

Stubben Hamanol is good stuff :) I use it for everything ..... bridles, saddles, boots ....
