WooHoo...Equestrian Games

Today I'm going to go to my first "Fun Hour" at the barn that I ride at. Fun Hour happens once a week and it's an hour of equestrian games. I can't wait to go! I heard that there are generally about 13 people participating but that we get the whole arena instead of just half like we do for lessons (no boarder wants to ride in the other half while this is going on since it can get rather wild). Everyone has to ride western and some games include red rover, tag, and relay races. I'm probably going to get my butt kicked since the other riders are regulars and are far more experienced than me, but that's ok. I'm just happy that I can go have crazy running around fun on a horse :)

Red rover on horse back :eek: Once I was playing red rover(On ground) and my friend ran straight through the other team and into a parked car :o They were ok though :)

Well it was just as much fun as I thought it would be but a million times harder than I thought! When you play tag you have to tag the person on the horse (not the horse) and man is it hard! Whenever I tried to tag someone they would jump to the other side of the saddle and I haven't acquired the skill of standing in one stirrup while going at a canter yet. At the end we also had a relay race that was great because ours horses got to go all out and it didn't require any "special" skills. Now that I know what it's all about I think I'll be going again in the near future :)

Does anyone else go to a barn that has fun equestrian games?

We do games in our lesson every so often. Quite fun really but Jake doesn't love other horses and they dont love him so they all tend to stay away, with ears back mind you. So for some games I will go on a pony and play. hehe its a good advantage!
