I don't know what came over me
siiting for a few minutes bareback on Taz as she munched on hay in the barn
...... suddenly the urge came over me :o
......I could not resist.......
......surely only lithe youngsters do this ;)
.......It's undignified for a gran of three :o
... oh what the heck ... I never did it EVER before and you only live once !
so I called upon all the courage I have and placed my trust in my steady steed
wriggled around to face tail
and slid over her tail to the floor :D :D :D :D
SOOOOOOOO GO ON ........ live life to the full :D

having done gymkhana games a few years ago (to the amusement of all the kids as well as the specators) .... a very novice jumping class ( ditto amusement as all other entrants aged about 6 on thelwells :D ) ..... fancy dress classes ( good thing Taz not self counscious ;)
welll I am open to ideas for fun things that usually only young uns do .... didn't ride much as a kid and when I did was FAR to serious minded to "play" .... so am having second ( and MUCH more fun) childhood

You go girl!
I do some kid games too. Sometimes, when I'm doing "stretching and balancing exercises" my real exercises will morphs into silly things like "around the world," riding "side saddle," or standing up with my knees on the saddle. Bud's such a good boy, he'll just keep going around while Mum is acting like someone a third her age... :D

Well you are way ahead of me! :) Last year we had a dressage musical and schooling show and the Halloween dress up, none of which I participated in. This year will be different though.
I think you're great in trying all these things out! Way to go. :)

Sounds like good fun :D
I've used bending poles, cones and "flags" (kind of... homemade!) to make all that schooling a bit more fun... my horse seems to like it too but everyone at my yard thinks it's hilarious and asks when I'm off to the gymkhana :D
As you say, if we missed out on things aged 6, why not have a go now!!

one word
NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I feel MUCH safer with my legs at their full length thank you !!!!! ........... they are so short anyway that my ankles only just clear the bottom of the saddle as it is :D
I love taking part in handy pony stuff and on the fundays at the yard I loved being organiser and jusdge for them too ...... not a race tho as seen too may ponies being dragged around as rider wanted get fasted time .... in my opinion handy pony is a steady family equine that will not spook at things.
Therefore MY handy pony classes include stuff like walking over tarpaulins, opening gates, "reverse gear" and goin through "tunnels" .......... all judged on style and accuracy  I was shocked that so may kids that hacked out alone, entered jumping classes etc did not know how to back up , leg yield or move horses rear end round !!!!!!!!!!!
I thought the kids might be put off ......... but to my great surprise they were inspired to improve their riding and do better next time !!!! ( most of them did ..... :)
